When S.54 passed last year, included in it was folding the medical program into the Cannabis Control Board next year. When this happens, the Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) Fund will also be folded into the CCB.
Last month during meetings about S.25, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved moving the date that the MMJ program is folded into the CCB to July 1st of this year.
When this happens, the program will dissolve and the approximately $400,000 in the medical fund will be moved to the Cannabis Control Board and used for tax and regulation purposes.
This is a huge slap in the face to every medical patient who has ever paid for a medical card, just for all of that cumulative money to get stolen and misused.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share this post, call your state rep, and tell them that Vermont needs a stand-alone Medical Cannabis Board, and that the Medical Marijuana Fund CANNOT be folded into the Cannabis Regulation Fund.
This money could be transformative to the program if it was PUT TO USE. That state managed to steal $300,000 in 2017 without any backlash because the fund was just sitting there.
