South Hero, VT – Sunset Lake CBD, a farmer-owned Vermont hemp company, is proud to announce a $5,000 donation to the Vermont Foodbank, supporting its mission to ensure every Vermonter has access to nourishing food, especially during a time when the temporary suspension of SNAP benefits has increased food insecurity across the state.
“We believe in taking care of our neighbors and investing in the well-being of our community,” said Sam Bellavance, founder of Sunset Lake CBD. “The Vermont Foodbank plays a vital role in making sure no one in Vermont goes hungry, and we’re honored to help advance that mission.”
Every dollar donated to Vermont Foodbank helps provide $4.14 worth of meals to neighbors experiencing hunger, amplifying the impact of community support when it’s needed most. This $5,000 donation will help provide over $20,000 worth of food to Vermonters.
“At this moment, our neighbors are being challenged by unpredictable changes to support programs, high food prices, and the onset of winter,” offered John Sayles, CEO of the Vermont Foodbank. “Addressing this food security crisis requires all of us working together to make sure that our neighbors have the food they need and want – we are grateful for our partners who recognize that need and join us in this work,” continued Sayles.
The Vermont Foodbank is the state’s largest hunger-relief organization, distributing more than 14 million pounds of food each year through a network of over 300 community partners, including food shelves, meal sites, schools, hospitals, and housing sites. Nearly half of that food is fresh produce, meat, and dairy — including food sourced directly from more than 200 Vermont farms. By purchasing food locally, the Foodbank has kept $1.8 million circulating in Vermont’s economy while ensuring everyone can share in the state’s bounty.
